Patrols target parks

Coldstream bylaw enforcement and security services will continue with the Commissionaires.

Security will continue to roam Coldstream beaches and parks this summer.

As provided for the past several years, bylaw enforcement and security services will continue with the Commissionaires.

“There is a significant amount of value added benefit in that the commissionaires have marked cars, their officers are in uniform and we have a good relationship with them already for the services they have provided in previous years,” said Trevor Seibel, Coldstream’s chief administrative officer, in a report to council.

“Commissionaires will also have the ability to provide bylaw enforcement (not only parks, but zoning, noise, unsightly premises, etc…) while they are performing their duties or on an as needed basis.”

The cost for the Commissionaires is $47,463 for April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017.

Key services include the Kalavista area between May and September, closing the cemetery year-round, closing the Kalavista boat launch, parking lot and Lavington washrooms between April and the end of October, closing parks and beaches, random patrols of parks and an additional 120 hours of enforcement to be used throughout the year as needed.
