Pay for top UFV executives released

University’s top six officials made a combined $1.2 million last fiscal year.

The University of the Fraser Valley’s top six executives made a combined $1.2 million in compensation for the 2014/15 fiscal year, according to recently released figures.

That total which includes salary, benefits, pension and expenses is down marginally from the previous years, with president Mark Evered and three other executives seeing their compensation decline slightly from the previous year.

Evered is the top-level executive at the local university, with a salary of $187,125. Benefits, pension, vacation payout and a housing allowance bring his total compensation to $229,698.

UFV provost and academic vice-president Eric Davis made $179,723 and had total compensation of $217,268.

Jackie Hogan, the university’s chief financial officer and administration vice-president, earned $155,226 in pay and $193,724 in total compensation.

Vice-president of students Jody Gordon earned a salary of $152,312 and total compensation of $192,293. Peter Geller, the university’s vice-provost and associate vice-president of academic had a salary of $149,021 and total compensation of $175,620.

And Harvey McCullough, the university’s external vice-president, earned a total compensation of $194,979. McCullough’s salary was $70,749, but he earned a payout of $94,335 for a seven-month approved administrative leave. The university grants such leave “for renewal and educational advancement,” according to the university’s submission to the finance ministry.

By comparison, Simon Fraser University president and vice-chancellor Andrew Petter received total compensation of $440,000, while Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s highest paid executive was president Alan Davis, with total compensation of nearly $233,000.
