Pedestrian critical after collision in Walnut Grove

An elderly driver struck a pedestrian in North Langley.

A 64-year-old woman was seriously hurt after she was struck in a crosswalk on 208th Street in Walnut Grove Sunday afternoon.

The victim was crossing 208th at 87th Avenue at about 2 p.m., said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.

A Honda SUV heading westbound on 87th Avenue turned left onto 208th and struck the victim in a low-speed collision, said Largy.

Despite the low speed of the impact, the victim is in critical condition, Largy said.

The 80-year-old Langley woman who was driving the SUV remained at the scene of the accident and spoke to police.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) is working with Langley RCMP on the investigation.

It is unknown right now if the crosswalk sign was illuminated at the time, or what other factors may have contributed to the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police is being asked to call the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
