A highway tragedy has claimed the life of a Grand Forks senior citizen.
On Dec. 4 at about 10:45 a.m., an 84-year-old Grand Forks resident walking west on Highway 3 approximately two kilometres east of Grand Forks was struck by an eastbound Dodge Caravan, reported Cpl. Richard Lanz of the Grand Forks RCMP Detachment. “The pedestrian died on scene as a result of the injuries received by the collision.”
The driver of the Dodge Caravan was not injured, Lanz said, adding that alcohol and road conditions were not seen as a contributing factors to the accident.
The pedestrian has been identified as Ivan Laverne Partridge of Grand Forks, announced Barb McLintock of the B.C. Coroners Service in a press release yesterday (Tuesday). “Mr. Partridge’s family has been notified of his death. On behalf of family members, the B.C. Coroners Service asks [to] respect their privacy at this difficult time.”
The Grand Forks RCMP, West Kootenay Traffic Services, Southeast District Collision Reconstructionist and B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate this collision.
