A South Okanagan woman’s drug trafficking trial is expected to kick off Wednesday in Penticton’s B.C. Supreme Court chambers.

Jennifer Montgomery was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of a controlled substance after a search warrant was executed on her house on June 22, 2016, seizing a quantity of methamphetamine, heroin and prescription medication.

Montgomery had also been facing charges stemming from a bust outside the now-defunct Lake City Casino on Sept. 9, 2016, when she was found to be in possession of a “significant” amount of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, cash and other items indicating drug trafficking.

Montgomery pleaded guilty to related breach of court order charges in October, with proceedings coming to an end on Dec. 4, according to court documents online, while the drug trafficking charges were reportedly dropped.

Montgomery was one of two people arrested for drug trafficking charges on June 22, 2016, and Penticton RCMP put out a news release later that week congratulating the detachment’s targeted enforcement unit on the two arrests and warning drug dealers of the targeted enforcement unit’s success.

Trial is expected to run for three days.

A previous version of this article said Montgomery pleaded guilty to unrelated drug trafficking charges in October. In fact, Montgomery only pleaded guilty to breach charges related to that alleged offence, while the drug charges were stayed.
