Penticton fire crews knock down vehicle fire

The Penticton Fire Department responded to multiple calls of a vehicle in flames on South Main St.

Crews from the Penticton Fire Department responded to multiple calls of a vehicle fire on South Main Street just after 8 a.m. March 9.

There were reports of flames shooting from the small pickup truck parked on the west side of the street and dark black smoke could be seen from over a kilometre away in all directions.

Fire crews were quickly on scene and applied foam to the burning vehicle, extinguishing the flames.

A section of South Mains Street was closed in both directions while the fire department was in attendance.

RCMP also responded to the scene.

Cause of the fire was unavailable and it’s not known if there was anyone in the vehicle when the fire started. Fire crews cleared the scene about 8:40 a.m.
