Penticton had its fourth straight day of record temperatures on Tuesday, June 29.
Though the city’s all-time record still stands, after being set on Monday, the city’s daily record for June 29 was broken.
Temperatures in Penticton climbed to 41.3 C on Tuesday, which saw the Penticton Fire Department respond to two different fires that tied them up for most of the day.
The previous record for June 29 was set in 2008 with a temperature of 37.4 C.
Penticton started breaking it’s daily records with a modest, compared to recent days, 37.5 C on Saturday, June 26.
That was followed by an all-time record of 40.5 C on Sunday, and a second-consecutive record-breaker of 42.5 C on Monday.
Further south, Osoyoos broke their daily record for June 29 with a scorching 45 C high. The previous record of 37.9 C was also set in 2008.
During the heatwave, Environment Canada is advising people to stay indoors and to keep hydrated, as well as to check up on older family members and friends to make sure they’re staying hydrated too.
