Perimeter Road for South Kelowna may be built soon

Still time to have a say about the timelines for when roads accessing the Okanagan Mission get built.

City of Kelowna staff say that if you missed the open house for the Okanagan Mission road network priorities, you still have time to have your say.

City staff hosted an open house on Nov. 26 to hear from residents about the possible reprioritization of road network plans in the Okanagan Mission area.

However, city staff issued a press release Nov. 28, to say it is not too late to have a say on those priorities.

Display panels are available online describing the potential changes should South Perimeter Road, from Gordon Drive to Stewart Road, be advanced 10 years ahead of schedule at kelowna.ca/cityprojects.

Those without access to the city’s website are invited to drop by City Hall, at 1435 Water Street, anytime between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday to view the display panels in the main foyer.

Comments can be directed to spr@kelowna.ca or dropped off at City Hall. Input will be received until Dec. 7.

This additional access to the Okanagan Mission could be in place as early as 2015 to facilitate the establishment of the Pond’s commercial village centre linking the communities of Crawford and the Ponds.

The South Perimeter Road has been in the Official Community Plan and 20 Year Financial Strategy as part of the Southwest Okanagan Mission Sector Plan since 1995 and is currently scheduled for construction in 2025.
