An honour walk was held Monday June 14 in Vanderhoof, remembering the 215 children found buried at Kamloops Indian Residential School.
Saik’uz First Nation led the walk which started at Nechako Valley Secondary School. There were over a hundred participants in the walk with students from W.L. McLeod and NVSS taking part in the walk.
Chief Priscilla Mueller said NVSS invited Saik’uz First Nation to honour the 215 children who were murdered and buried.
“We are here to show our support. A lot of our members went to Lejac and a couple of our members here also went to Kamloops Indian Residential School. We want to support the students and make them aware of some of the things that happened in the past and educate them,”she said.
