A Surrey townhouse sustained significant damage in a late-night fire Monday (March 15) that police say is suspicious.

According to a witness, crews responded to the 10700-block of 133 Street at 11:30 p.m. to find a car fire in a carport spreading to a two-storey unit. The car sustained significant damage while the carport was moderately damaged.

A total of 20 firefighters responded and at least one other unit was damaged.

No injuries were reported, the witness added. Corporal Joanie Sidhu said the detachment’s general investigation unit found evidence suggesting the fire was suspicious and “officers are now working on identifying a suspect.”
