Pirate and the Bloody Bohemian make their musical debut in the Valley

If you were lucky enough to score a seat at the Bella Coola Mountain Lodge last weekend for the musical debut of the Pirate and the Bloody Bohemian, you won’t forget it.

The dynamic duo consists of local musical legend Buddy Thatcher and relative newcomer to the scene, Rose Clark. However, if you witnessed their show you’d be blown away to learn the duo have only been officially “together” for a mere six months.

Concert goers were treated to a pretty incredible opening show too. Local singer/songwriter Bill Hall of the Valley’s own AKA performed a number of original tunes he composed himself; many of which his own wife hadn’t even heard!

The crowd absolutely loved it. Hall has a rich, distinctive voice and a style all his own; singing straight from the heart on some personal experiences. Nothing compares to a genuine show, and the our local audience knew they were witnessing something special; making sure Hall came back for an encore!

Thatcher is a name we all know well, and his mind-bending guitar skills are something to watch on their own. However, paired with Clark, whose fledging talent is obvious, the duo really comes alive.

Their sound is nothing like their previous local acts; it’s something completely different. Raw and creative, their songs are rough around the edges with a polished feel. With both members contributing to the songwriting effort, their work is only going to get better. Clark’s voice shines through, while Thatcher’s skills on the guitar are more than complimentary: it’s show in its own right.

The crowd was more than impressed. The talent in this Valley is remarkable, and the audience knew they were witnessing just the beginning of something pretty amazing.
