The 274-unit townhouse development proposed for Pitt Meadows is on hold until design plans are modified to reflect concerns by council and residents.
Increased traffic and parking issues, the proposed number of units and access being limited to Sutton Avenue exclusively were among the primary concerns identified in feedback forms submitted at a public hearing held last year.
“People are very concerned about how much density this development represents,” Coun. Gwen O’Connell said at last week’s regular meeting.
City staff initially recommended the rezoning application for 19451 Sutton Avenue be given first and second reading and that a second public hearing be held.
Council said no to the recommendations and asked staff to work with developers to update the proposal.
The parcel of land in question, once owned by the city and now the property of Onni Group, would have to be rezoned from general agriculture to comprehensive development.
