Police are searching for suspects in a pair of violent robberies at two video game stores Sunday in Pitt Meadows and Surrey.
Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to EB Games in Meadowtown Centre around 4 p.m. after two masked men burst into the store.
Brandishing a machete, the men threatened staff and led them to back room, where they were pepper sprayed and tied up.
The men grabbed items off shelves, making off with an undisclosed amount of merchandise.
Two hours later, police believe the same thieves hit a second EB Games location in Surrey using the same tactics.
No one was injured in either robbery.
“Police are very concerned whenever there is a robbery of this type in our community, as this does not occur often in either Pitt Meadows or Maple Ridge,” said Sgt. Dale Somerville.
Somerville added because staff were tied up, there was a time delay between the incident occurring and police being notified.
“With the suspects wearing disguises, the description of the pair is vague,” he said.
One man had dark, skin while the other is believed to be white.
Police have canvassed other stores in the mall for any surveillance video footage, but are also seeking witnesses to the crime.
