Pizza delivery offers smoke alarm inspection

Oak Bay Fire Department will inspect smoke detectors while delivering pizzas Oct. 3.

Oak Bay Fire Department will inspect smoke detectors while delivering pizzas Oct. 3.

In a safety promotion in co-operation with the Quadra Street Dominos, Capt. Rob Kivell, Oak Bay Fire Department’s fire prevention officer, will head out on deliveries for Oak Bay residents who ask for the service while ordering their pies.

If Kivell finds working smoke detectors in the correct locations in the home, those pizza deliveries could be free.

The promotion kicks off Fire Prevention Week Oct. 4 to 10. The theme for this year is: Hear The Beep Where You Sleep. Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm.

The promotion runs 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Oak Bay Fire also offers the prevention expertise on a regular basis.

Call the department at 250-592-9121 for information.
