After several similar incidents in the Lower Mainland, black market gasoline seems to have burst onto the Surrey scene.
Sunday night at about 5:30, a white van hit another vehicle at 104 Avenue and Scott Road. It continued on for a couple of blocks to 122 Street and 104 Avenue, where it exploded. A 1,000-litre container filled with gasoline blew up. It’s believed the fuel was destined for sale on the black market.
Surrey RCMP are looking for a clean-shaven Asian male who fled the scene.
Police are following up with interviews with the registered owner of the vehicle, which may have been stolen.
‘Murse’ snatching in North Surrey
A man is in hospital with deep lacerations to his head from a machete attack that took place in North Surrey earlier this week.
At about 1 a.m. Monday, police were called to the SkyTrain Gateway Station at 134 Street and 108 Avenue.
Upon arriving, they found a man on the ground suffering a bad slice to his head.
He is expected to make a full recovery.
His cellphone and murse (man purse) were stolen during the attack.
Police are looking for an Asian male, wearing a black hoodie, with some sort of skull design on it, wearing skateboarding shoes and blue jeans. He was also carrying a black and green murse.
