Police briefs: Graffiti suspect identified

Impaired drivers, returned wallets, graffiti investigation ongoing

Impaired driving

A vehicle speeding on Cedar Hill Cross Road at 1 a.m. on March 26 was pulled over by Oak Bay Police. The driver blew a warning result on a breathalyzer and was issued a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition as well as a ticket for speeding. The driver was driven home by a relative.

Another vehicle was pulled over for speeding on Beach Drive at 11:50 p.m. on March 27. This driver also blew a warning result and was served with a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition. The vehicle was towed by police officers who drove the driver home.

Impaired crash

Oak Bay Police and Fire attended a single vehicle crash in a school zone in the 3400 block of Henderson Road that occurred at 9 a.m. on March 28. The vehicle involved was on the lawn facing the roadway after striking another parked vehicle. The driver of the vehicle failed a breathalyzer test and was arrested for Impaired Driving.

Returned wallets

A wallet belonging to Alberta visitors who were in town for their daughter’s wedding was found on Oak Bay Avenue on March 28, and was turned into the Oak Bay Police. It was eventually returned to its rightful owners with all of its contents inside.

A second wallet was recovered and returned to its owner the same day.

Graffiti suspect identified

Following a rash of graffiti that has hit Oak Bay in recent months, the public assisted Oak Bay Police in identifying a suspect. The investigation is continuing.
