A failed field sobriety test meant a 24-hour driving suspension for one driver Jan. 5.

Shortly after 10 p.m. an Oak Bay police officer spotted a motorist speeding, crossing the yellow line and making abrupt steering corrections. A check of the driver revealed a strong odour of marijuana.

The officer conducted a standard field sobriety test which the driver failed. The motorist received a 24-hour driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded.
