Oak Bay police stopped a motor vehicle for speeding on Cadboro Bay Road near Fort Street at 1:50 a.m. Oct. 10. The driver, a 45-year-old woman from Langford, displayed signs of alcohol impairment and was asked for breath samples. After the woman failed the roadside screening tests, police issued an immediate 90-day driving prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Daytime thief steals purse
Police were called to a home on Lorne Terrace on Oct. 10 after the home was broken into sometime during the previous day. A purse was stolen but no other items were noted missing and no damage occurred to the residence during the break-in.
Scooter thief nabs Cobra
Sometime overnight Oct. 10, a motorized scooter was stolen from a residence on Goldsmith Avenue, Oak Bay police reported. Security video footage showed the suspect stealing the scooter from the parkade at 4 a.m. A “Cobra” model under the brand name “Shop Rider,” the scooter is described as grey and black in colour. Police are continuing their investigation.
MVA causes minor injuries
Oak Bay police responded at 12:35 a.m. Oct. 11 to an motor vehicle collision with injuries on Foul Bay Road at Kings Road. A north-bound 2002 Acura TL had stopped behind another vehicle waiting at the intersection to turn, when a 1996 Mazda Protégé, also northbound, drove into the rear of the stopped Acura causing minor injuries to two occupants, including a young boy, police reported. The boy was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
