Vandalism continues to plague the area along Bowker Creek.
On June 22, shortly after midnight, police received a report of a group of youth walking down the path breaking things, Oak Bay Police said. Officers discovered three broken light globes along Bowker Creek and garbage cans tipped over.
Due to the frequency of this type of mischief, the globes may no longer be replaced, police said, adding a fourth broken globe was discovered by Parks staff later in the day.
Also on June 22, Oak Bay Police received a related report of a rock thrown through a French door at a residence along Bowker Creek.
Vandals strike Beach Drive lights
On June 20, Oak Bay Police received reports of damage to light standards along Beach Drive. The iconic globes, now made of plastic, were smashed and in one a large rock was placed in the shell.
This required considerable effort and would have required the culprits to stand on a ladder or a truck bed, police said.
