Police chase accused drug dealer through restaurant

The 22-year-old man will be facing drug trafficking charges in Salmon Arm Provincial Court in March.

  • Jan. 19, 2017 7:00 a.m.

It was a rather unusual meal for some Salmon Arm restaurant patrons as plain-clothes RCMP officers pursued a suspect on foot through the building on Jan. 12.

The man that the officers were chasing, had fled from them as they were making an arrest under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act in another nearby parking lot.

As the suspect ran, he entered the restaurant with the officers in pursuit, continued through the establishment and then ran out another door where he was taken into custody after a brief scuffle.

In the investigation, cocaine, heroin and a quantity of cash was seized.

During the event no danger was posed to the public and the officer involved in the event apologized to the patrons of the restaurant for the disruption.

The 22-year-old male will be facing drug trafficking charges in the Salmon Arm Provincial Courts in late March.
