A bomb threat phoned in to Wellington Secondary School cancelled morning classes as police searched the building and grounds Tuesday.
The school’s principal received the call shortly after 8 a.m. and ordered students and staff to evacuate the building.
“We set up a radius of about two blocks back, towards Departure Bay (Road) and Uplands (Drive) and keeping everybody out,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.
An RCMP dog service team searched throughout the property and police allowed classes to resume shortly after noon after determining there was no threat to staff, students or property.
The investigation into who made the threat continues.
