Police are still hunting for a man they think was involved in the smash and grab at Jay’s Lace It Up in Port Alberni.
RCMP have issued an arrest warrant for Nanaimo resident Pierre Gino Guidotti, 38.
On the morning of April 22, police say two suspects smashed the windows at Jay’s Lace It Up and stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise before fleeing.
Police chased the couple on Hwy. 4 after they failed to pull over. Their stolen car drove over an RCMP spike belt placed across the highway at Hilliers Road by Oceanside RCMP. The vehicle continued on but drove into a ditch at Qualicum Beach.
Robyn Schultz, 29, of Nanaimo was nabbed after a foot chase but Guidotti escaped and has been on the run since.
Guidotti is facing charges of break, enter and theft; possession of stolen property over $5000; flight from peace officer; and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Police are asking the public not to approach Guidotti should they spot him. Instead, they are asked to report his whereabouts by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
