Police investigate assault at local motel

Kelowna RCMP are continuing their investigation of an assault which occurred Tuesday morning

Police continue their investigation after receiving reports of an assault early Tuesday morning.

On June 27 at 4:57 a.m., the Kelowna RCMP received an emergency call about an assault that occurred at a local motel, in the 2600 block of Highway 97 North.

The assault victim, a 38-year-old male, was being treated by emergency paramedics as police arrived on scene. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital to receive medical treatment for his injuries, which are being considered non-life threatening at this time.

“The General Investigation Section of the Kelowna RCMP have taken conduct of this investigation,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “RCMP continue to secure the scene of the alleged assault as they await the arrival of a search warrant for the premises.”

“RCMP believe the attack was targeted and not random,” he added.
