Fire thwarted

A pair of youths earned a lecture after starting a small fire near Bayside middle school Feb. 23. Central Saanich fire responded when the small fire, in the hollow of a lone-standing cedar tree was reported. The boys’ parents were called.

 

 

Stop signs removed

Drivers noticed missing stop signs in the 900 block of Creekside Court the morning of Feb. 25. When police responded they found several other signs, including other stop signs, were removed. Central Saanich public works repaired the damage.

 

 

Lock the doors

Lock your cars, remind Central Saanich Police after a pair of vehicles had stuff stolen from them. Both were reported the morning of Feb. 23. One was parked in a driveway in the 6700 block of Central Saanich Road. A thin gold band with a trio of diamonds was stolen along with a lottery ticket, iPod and accessories, and loose change. The other was reported nearby in the 2300 block of Moore Place. The contents of a wallet were stolen. Another vehicle was reportedly entered in the 2300 block of Styan Road, and reported Feb. 25. An iPod was reported stolen.

 

 

Early morning clean up

A disturbance in Pioneer Park drew police response in the early hours of Feb. 25. Officers responded after a report from the public of men throwing garbage cans and lids on the street. When they arrived police found three young men running through the park. The men had been drinking, and made the mess, police said. The trio cleaned up.

 

 

Youth arrested for mischief

A pair of youth were arrested after a couple of reports in the 7700 block of Wallace Drive around 11 p.m. on Feb. 25.

In the first instance a youth reported damaging garden lights was arrested for mischief and released into the care of his father. Another group was reported by residents in the area. Officers discovered a house party nearby. One youth was arrested and placed in cells until the morning for being intoxicated in public.

 

 

Argument leads to arrests

 

A pair of men faced arrest after a call in to Central Saanich police about an argument in the 7000 block of Wallace Drive. Officers arrested one man for being intoxicated in public and discovered brass knuckles — a prohibited weapon — in his possession. The other man was arrested for breach of conditions which included not consuming alcohol.
