The idea of police officers becoming more visible in Oak Bay Village took the latest step last week.

The first dedicated parking spot for police vehicles, located in front of the municipal hall on Oak Bay Avenue, was used for the first time Thursday.

The move is expected to help the department meet residents’ stated priority of higher visibility around the municipality.

Creating more of a police presence was a recommendation made by retired judge Alan Filmer in his early 2011 review of the police department.
