Windows broken

Apr. 21 police received a report of vandalism to the Cache Creek Pentecostal Church after a member of the public noticed shattered glass in the front doors. An attending officer also noted two broken windows in the pastor’s office. No entry was gained to the building. Anyone with information regarding the damage is asked to report it to the RCMP at 250-453-2216.

Ornery patron

Apr. 21 at 1:15 pm staff at the Ashcroft River Inn called to report a patron refusing to leave the bar. The 51 year old Ashcroft man was located siting in Legacy Park. He stated that he had been kicked out of the bar for being ornery. He felt staff was upset with him for making them work and because he had his dog with him. Staff advised that he was belligerent towards them. He was told not to come back.

Drum left behind

Apr. 22 a Chevron employee brought a drum in a large black carry case to the Detachment, saying that it had been left at the Chevron for two days. The owner, a 54 year old Surrey man, contacted RCMP and retrieved his musical instrument.

Plain old speeding

Apr. 22 at 7:45 am Traffic Services stopped a Grand Am on Hwy 97 at Scottie Creek Rd. for speeding. A small amount of marijuana was seized from the passenger, a 25 year old Kelowna man. The driver, a 28 year old Kelowna man, was given a ticket for speeding.

Hwy 1 speedway

Apr. 22 at 8:40 am a 30 year old Surrey man driving a Dodge Calibre was stopped while speeding through Cache Creek after radar clocked his speed at 95 kph in the 50 kph zone. He was given a ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

At 10:30 am in the same area, Traffic Services stopped a vehicle for travelling at 104 kph in the 50 kph zone. The 21 year old Vanderhoof woman was given a ticket for excessive speed and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Fender bender

Apr. 22 at 11:15 am police attended a minor collision on the highway in front of the Dairy Queen in Cache Creek when a 28 year old Calgary woman driving a Mustang backed into a Honda Fit driven by a 45 year old Lumby woman at low speed. Damage was less than $1,000. The drivers were advised to contact ICBC.

Rental impounded

Apr. 22 at 12:30 pm a Traffic Services member conducting radar at the south end of Cache Creek stopped a Honda Civic travelling at 111 kph in the 50 kph zone while using a cell phone. The 27 year old Burnaby woman was given a ticket for excessive speed and her car was impounded for seven days.

At 1 pm the same officer in the same area stopped a rented Dodge Caravan that was travelling at 102 kph in the 50 kph zone. The 23 year old Chilliwack woman was given a ticket for excessive speed and her minivan, rented out of Abbotsford, was impounded for seven days.

Drugs and driving

Apr. 23 at 4:30 am police stopped a black Nissan 300zx on Hwy 1 near the Ashcroft Manor for speeding. Police also seized approximately two grams of marijuana from the 22 year old Terrace man, who was given a speeding ticket.

Too noisy

Apr. 23 at 7:40 am police were advised of an attempted break and enter at Hungry Herbies in Cache Creek. A rear door was damaged but no entry was gained. The restaurant’s owner credited the building’s noisy security alarm for probably scaring away the intruder. Damage was estimated at $800.

Problem child

Apr. 23 at 1 pm police received a complaint from a Cache Creek man who advised that his 24 year old son had threatened to kill him with a gun. Police located the man of no fixed address, who was also in violation of court conditions by being on his parents’ property. He was arrested and taken before a Justice of the Peace who charged him with uttering threats and breach of conditions, and released him.

Police were called back to the same residence the following evening and the son was arrested again for being on the property. He was remanded in cells overnight and appeared in Kamloops Court on the 26th.

Aptly named

Apr. 25 at 12:50 pm Traffic Services operating a radar on Hwy 1 at the bottom of Jackass Mountain stopped a Chevrolet Traverse travelling at 150 kph in the 90 kph zone. The 39 year old Prince George driver was given a ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

At 2 pm at the same radar check, police stopped a Dodge S60 for travelling at 140 kph in the 90 kph zone. The 46 year old Surrey man was given a ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Gunshot reported

Apr. 25 at 7:45 pm police received a report of a gunshot fired in Ashcroft. The complainant advised police that the male who owned the house behind hers had fired a single shot from his yard. Police found  the 28 year old Cache Creek man working outside on his Ashcroft property. The man admitted to owning a rifle but denied that he had fired it recently. Police inspected the gun and were satisfied that it had not been fired. Fireworks were the speculated cause of the noise

Domestic assault

Apr. 25 at 10:30 pm police were called to a domestic assault in progress in 16 Mile. The complainant advised that a man had forced his way into the house and  knocked his 34 year old ex-girlfriend to the floor, where he stuck her in the chest several times. The 33 year old man had departed by the time police arrived, but he turned himself in to the Detachment the following morning. He was arrested for assault and for being unlawfully in a dwelling.

Suspension served

Apr. 26 at 2:30 pm Traffic services stopped a vehicle on Hwy 99 near the Graymont plant. The 39 year old Kamloops driver was unable to produce a drivers license. He was served with an indefinite driving suspension notice from ICBC and issued a ticket for driving without a Drivers License.

Overcrowded nest

Apr. 27 at 2:15 pm police received a complaint from a 79 year old woman who stated that her 56 year old son was damaging her property near the Highland Valley Trailer Court with his vehicle. Police attended and found the son moving his truck from one part of her property to another, as part of a lengthy on-going dispute between the two. He agreed to move off of her property.
