Reality check

Jan. 19 at 2 am Traffic Services stopped a vehicle for speeding at 120 kph in a 70 kph zone on Hwy 1 at the south end of Lytton. The 49 year old Port Coquitlam man was given a ticket for excessive speed and his Pontiac Sunfire was impounded for seven days.

Keeping track of family members

Jan. 19 at 6:45 pm RCMP were contacted by a Cache Creek family who were concerned that they had not heard from a visiting 84 year old relative who had left at around 10:30 am to drive back to Maple Ridge. She was located safe and sound in her home later that evening.

Man arrested for domestic assault

Jan. 20 at 2:30 am police were called to a domestic assault in Cache Creek. A 25 year old man from the Cache Creek area was arrested and held overnight in cells. He will appear in court on Feb. 27 to answer a charge of assault against his 19 year old former girlfriend, who suffered minor injuries. Alcohol was a factor.

Marijuana seized from vehicle

Jan. 20 at 7:30 pm Traffic Services stopped a pickup on Hwy 99 near Historic Hat Creek Ranch for a possible impaired. The driver, a 35 year old Cache Creek man, was not impaired, but the officer seized 15 grams of marijuana from his passenger, a 23 year old Cache Creek woman.

Trucker gets ticket for bad driving

Jan. 21 at 2 pm police received numerous complaints of an erratic driver on Hwy 1 by Oregon Jack Hill. The complainants advised that a transport truck had forced them off the road. The truck was located and the driver, a 53 year old Surrey man, was issued a ticket for driving without consideration.

Lost control on icy patch

Jan. 21 at 8:30 pm police attended a single vehicle accident on Hwy 97 by Historic Hat Creek Ranch after the driver lost control on a slippery patch of the highway. The driver and his passenger, a man and woman in their early 50s from the Cache Creek area, were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Off road, down embankment

Jan. 21 at 8:50 pm police attended a single vehicle accident on Hwy 97C just north of Ashcroft after a car left the highway and ended up at the bottom of an embankment. A passing motorist saw tracks leading off the road and went to investigate. A 56 year old Ashcroft woman was the sole occupant of the car. She was transported to hospital with fractures and lacerations. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Following too close

Jan. 22 at 1:30 pm RCMP attended a two vehicle accident on Hwy 97 about two km north of the Hwy 99 junction where a northbound transport truck hit a  northbound SUV that had slowed to make a left hand turn. The driver of the transport truck, a 46 year old Surrey man, was given a ticket for following too close. Neither he nor the 19 year old 70 Mile House woman driving the SUV were injured.

Long trip made longer

Jan. 22 at 12:30 pm Traffic Services stopped a Toyota Camry on Hwy 1 at Lytton for travelling at 150 kph in the 90 kph zone. The driver, a 57 year old Fort St. John man, was given a ticket for excessive speed and his car was impounded for seven days.

Unexpected ice on the highway

Jan. 23 at 9 am police attended a single vehicle accident on Hwy 97C just north of the Ashcroft bridge when a 20 year old Kamloops woman lost control of her vehicle on a slippery patch of road. There were no injuries to the driver.

Brand new company truck impounded

Jan. 24 at 8:30 am Traffic Services stopped a 2012 Ford F550 on Hwy 99 near Marble Canyon for speeding. The driver, a 42 year old Cache Creek man, was found to be a prohibited driver. He was given a speeding ticket and charged with driving while prohibited. The company truck belonging to a Cache Creek business was impounded for seven days.

“M” for marijuana

Jan. 25 at 9:45 am Traffic Services stopped a Pontiac Sunfire on Hwy 97 north of Cache Creek. The 21 year old Cache Creek man was given a ticket for failing to properly display his “N”. The officer also seized three baggies of marijuana.
