June 1 at 5:20 pm police stopped a red GMC pickup with South Dakota plates in Cache Creek for a seat belt violation. An odour of marijuana was noticed and the 29 year old male driver surrendered a small amount of marijuana and a pipe. He received a ticket for not wearing his seat belt.
In a hurry
June 2 at 6:36 am police stopped a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze near Woods Creek on Hwy 97C for speeding. The northbound vehicle was clocked at 144 kph in a 90 kph zone. The 31 year old man was given a ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Teach her a lesson
June 2 at 9:20 pm a 58 year old Walhachin man called to report that his intoxicated wife had passed out at their residence and requested that she be arrested and held in cells overnight. He explained to attending officers that she had serious health issues and was hoping this would be a “wake up call” for her. The officers explained that they could not arrest the 47 year old woman simply for passing out in her own home.
Excessive speed
June 3 at 6:30 pm on Hwy 1 at Jackass Mountain police conducting radar witnessed a southbound 1996 Honda Civic pull out and pass a line of traffic. As he pulled back into traffic, his speed was registered at 151 kph in a 90 kph zone. The 46 year old Pineview man was issued tickets for excessive speed and crossing a double solid line and his car was impounded for seven days.
At 7 pm in the same spot, police pulled over a 2011 Ford Flex after watching it pull out and pass a line of traffic at 142 kph in the 90 kph zone. The 40 year old man from Strathmore, Alta. was issued tickets for excessive speed and crossing a double solid line, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.At 8:10 pm near the same area, police pulled over a 2005 Subaru Outback for travelling at 136 kph in the 90 kph zone. The 52 year old North Vancouver woman was given a ticket for excessive speed and her car was impounded for seven days.
At 9:25 pm in the same area, police pulled over a northbound 1989 Honda Civic for driving at 141 kph in the 90 kph zone. The 32 year old male driver from Maple Ridge was issued a ticket for excessive speed and his car was impounded for seven days.
24 hour suspension
June 4 at 12:10 am police conducting a road check in Lytton at Hwy 12 and Main St. stopped a 1992 Ford F150 pickup and noted a strong odour of marijuana inside. A search of the vehicle found three one-ounce bags of marijuana which were seized. The driver, a 57 year old Dawson Creek man, showed signs of impairment and admitted to smoking a joint earlier in the evening. He was given a 24 hour suspension and his vehicle was towed.
Falling down drunk
June 4 at 7:10 pm police received a report of a male and female arguing on the sidewalk in front of Chum’s in Cache Creek. The complainant advised that the couple went their separate ways and the male promptly fell down in an empty lot next to the restaurant. Officers located two males near the restaurant stumbling across the highway. One of them, a 44 year old Ashcroft man, admitted to having a recent argument with his girlfriend. He and his friend, a 57 year old Enderby man, were arrested for being drunk in a public place and lodged in cells until sober.
Bag stolen
June 5 a 57 year old Ashcroft man reported that a black hockey bag had been stolen from the bed of his pickup parked on Bancroft St. in Ashcroft some time overnight. The bag contained hunting rope, clothes and first aid supplies.
Plate recovered
June 6 at 8:45 am police were notified by a Cache Creek man that he had found a license plate with a December 2011 validation tag on the highway in Cache Creek’s main intersection. It had been driven over several times. The plate belongs to a company vehicle in Kamloops and will be returned to ICBC.
Followed her home
June 6 at 12:30 police received an abandoned 911 from a 16 Mile residence. A 57 year old woman answered the call back and advised that she had been arguing with a male who had followed her home from the bar. He started acting strangely after entering the house and started throwing things around, so she kicked him out.
Dirt biker down
June 7 at 6:20 pm ambulance attendants notified police that they had attended an accident scene on YD Ranch Rd. where a 27 year old Kamloops man riding a dirt bike on the wrong side of the road had collided with a car driven by a 24 year old Ashcroft man. The Kamloops man was treated for minor injuries and issued tickets for failing to keep right and driving without a license.
