100 Mile House RCMP responded to 80 calls for service during the past week. Some highlights are as follows:

Roadside check

On Sept. 24,100 Mile House RCMP conducted a roadside check on Horse Lake Road in the Lone Butte area.

A number of motorists and vehicles were checked. Only minor infractions were observed, which resulted in warnings.

No impairment violations were found.

IRP issued

On Sept. 24, Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services stopped a vehicle on Exeter Station Road as the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

Upon speaking with the driver, it was determined he had been consuming alcohol. A roadside breath test was conducted during which the driver provided a “fail” result.

He was issued an immediate roadside prohibition (IRP) for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Jewelry theft

On Sept. 21, RCMP received a report of a theft that had occurred from a business on the 200 block of Birch Avenue.

It had been advised that a man and woman both described as 30 years old and an older female all of Southeast Asian descent had come in to the store and were viewing jewelry.

While the clerk was dealing with the younger man and woman who were likely attempting to distract the clerk, the older female took several pieces of jewelry and left the store.

The incident was captured on surveillance cameras and attempts will be made to identify the persons involved.

B&E and theft

On Sept. 19, RCMP received a report of a break-and-enter in progress to a business compound on Moore Avenue, in the Exeter Station Road industrial area.

A person had been seen inside the locked compound and the business owner was informed. Then the business owner called police.

Members arrived and located a male inside the compound and he was arrested for break-and-enter without incident.

Numerous items, including vehicle parts were subsequently located in the male’s vehicle, as well as cheques, which were believed to be stolen, that were being forged.

The male is a 21-year-old resident of Kamloops and was released to attend court at a later date.

The investigation into the incident is continuing and charges of break-and-enter, possession of stolen property, and forgery will be proposed to Crown counsel.
