Boat patrols catching captains without safety equipment and cards

A two-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 97 just north of 100 Mile House near Ainsworth Road around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 5. Dual wheels broke loose from a from a truck's axle, sending them careening into the southbound lane and striking this car. Nobody was injured in this incident.

100 Mile House RCMP responded to 105 calls for service during the past week. Some highlights are as follows:

Boat patrol

On Aug. 7, RCMP conducted a boat patrol on Lac des Roches.

Several boats were checked and notices were issued to several operators for not having required safety equipment and not producing an operator’s card.

Wheels let loose

On Aug. 5, police were called to a report of a two-vehicle incident on Highway 97 near Ainsworth Road on 99 Mile Hill.

Upon attendance, it was found that a truck, which had an axle break, led to the two wheels falling off from one side of the truck’s rear axle. The wheels then went into the southbound lane striking an oncoming vehicle.

Both vehicles were severely damaged; however, there were no injuries. It is not known what caused the axle to break.

Expensive mischief

On Aug. 5, RCMP received a report of a mischief to a vehicle believed to have occurred at a residence on Elliott Lake Road.

It is suspected that sometime over the course of a few days prior, the oil pan screw was intentionally loosened, which caused the engine oil to leak out. The result was a severely damaged engine.

Dangerous act

On Aug. 5, RCMP received a report of a mischief to a vehicle on Highway 97 near 99 Mile Hill.

A motorist reported he was driving down the hill when an object was thrown from another vehicle, which resulted in damaging his vehicle.

The suspect vehicle is described as a smaller red passenger car.

Rollover incident

On Aug. 4, police were called to a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Watch Lake Road near Little Green Lake Road.

There were no injuries and no alcohol involved. It was determined the driver failed to negotiate a corner of the road and rolled over into the ditch.

Fridge stolen

On Aug. 4, RCMP received a report of a theft of a fridge from a business located on the 300 block of Highway 97

A small fridge had been taken out of a hotel room. A tenant of the room is believed to be responsible. The incident is under investigation.
