Ordinary argument
June 11 at 7:45 pm police were called to Husky to deal with a possible forcible confinement after staff reported seeing a couple arguing in the parking lot, after which the complainant thought they saw a female being forced into the car before it drove away. Police located the car which was just pulling into a Cache Creek motel. The 35 year old man and 28 year old woman, both from Coquitlam, admitted to having an argument, but there was no violence involved. They were just passing through the area and spending the night at the motel.
Wallet returned
June 12 at 10 am Husky staff turned in a wallet left behind. The woman from 100 Mile House was contacted and her wallet was returned.
Home destruction
June 12 at 10:30 am police attended a disturbance on the Ashcroft Reserve where an intoxicated male was causing damage to his own residence. He agreed to go somewhere else and sleep it off.
Impaired driving
June 12 at 5 pm police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on the Ashcroft Reserve. They located and stopped the suspect vehicle. The driver showed signs of being highly intoxicated and was brought back to the Detachment to provide breath samples. The samples registered blood alcohol three times over the limit. The 23 year old Ashcroft man is now facing charges of impaired driving and driving with blood alcohol over .08. He was given a 90 day driving suspension and his vehicle was towed. He was also issued tickets for driving without insurance, driving without a Drivers License, and improper use of a seat belt.
Damaged property
June 15 police received a complaint of mischief at the Bonaparte Motel in Cache Creek after staff found a broken light on the outside of the building not long after an unhappy customer had checked out. The matter is still under investigation.
Sidewalk snooze
June 15 at 1 pm police received a report of an intoxicated person passed out outside the Ashcroft Liquor Store. The 43 year old Ashcroft man was released to sober friends nearby who agreed to look after him and take him home.
Fighting at the dance
June 16 police were called to the Rodeo Dance at the arena just after midnight after a fight had broken out between two patrons. Punches were thrown and police determined that a 24 year old Edmonton woman was the instigator. Her boyfriend, a 28 year old Ashcroft man, was arrested for trying to prevent police from arresting her. She reciprocated by trying to prevent police from arresting him and they were both arrested for obstructing police. A 23 year old Kamloops woman, who was involved in the initial fight, was also arrested and the three were lodged in police cells overnight and released the next morning when sober.
Picking a fight
June 16 at 1:20 am while making patrols in the area, police observed a 28 year old Kamloops man trying to instigate a fight outside of the Ashcroft arena. He was arrested for causing a disturbance and held overnight until sober.
90 day prohibition
June 16 at 7:30 pm Traffic Services stopped a 2001 Ford F150 on Hwy 1 at Hwy 97C. The driver displayed signs of intoxication and was given a roadside test, which he Failed. The 46 year old Ashcroft man was given a 90 day driving prohibition and his truck was towed.
Mouthing off to staff
June 17 at 3 am police received a complaint from A&W staff in Cache Creek about a local man having a disagreement with staff and causing a disturbance. He left before police arrived but was located the next day. He agreed that he’d acted inappropriately towards staff and said he would apologize to them.
Rollover on Hwy 1
June 17 at 3:30 pm police attended a single vehicle rollover on Hwy 1 near Juniper Beach. The driver, a 44 year old Cache Creek man, had apparently nodded off at the wheel and the 2009 Pontiac Montana left the road and rolled over. Neither he nor his passenger, a 43 year old Cache Creek man, were injured. The vehicle was a writeoff.
Screaming at the night
June 17 at 10 police police received multiple complaints of a man causing a disturbance at the Mesa Vista Trailer Park in Ashcroft by yelling and screaming. The 31 year old Ashcroft man was located, but began walking away as police approached, still screaming and agitated. Police arrested him and lodged him in cells overnight until sober.
Prescription impairment
June 18 at 1 am police received two complaints about a possible impaired driver who was staggering around the parking lot of the Husky. He then got into his vehicle and drove into two garbage cans. Police located the vehicle and driver who displayed signs of impairment. He was given a 24 hour suspension for impairment by prescription drugs and his vehicle was towed. The 44 year old Abbotsford man was given a ride to a residence in Ashcroft.
