Truck hits car, no injuries to pregnant woman
On Feb. 28 at 2:13 p.m., a 33-year-old male from Castlegar was driving a Chambers truck and hit a 2004 Taurus that was turning left off the highway near Christina Lake.
The truck was unable to stop in time and struck the left rear corner of the vehicle, causing over $1,000 in damages to the car.
No one was injured, but the 20-year-old female driver of the car from Christina Lake was taken to the hospital because she is nine months pregnant. “They wanted to make sure everything was OK, and thankfully it was,” said Grand Forks RCMP’s Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison.
Public disturbance
On Saturday, March 3 at 8:14 p.m., there were two calls of a disturbance from residents.
RCMP attended the scene and located a 20-year-old individual who has been living in Grand Forks but is from Trail.
“They arrested him for being drunk in a public place and causing a disturbance,” explained Harrison. “He was subsequently charged with being drunk in a public place and we (placed him in a cell) for the evening to sleep it off and to stop him from bothering people.”
Broken windows on trucks
Two Chambers trucks were reported with broken windows on Feb. 27 at 6:46 a.m.
Parked near the City Grand Forks Works Yard, both driver side windows were broken. Nothing was taken and there were no witnesses.
Alberta car struck outside restaurant
On March 2 at 2:09 p.m., an accident originally reported as a hit-and-run occurred near New Century Restaurant.
A white, 1988 Ford pickup truck backed out into a 2007 Toyota Rav 4 from Alberta and left damage worth over $1,000.
The driver of the truck was located and he subsequently reported he had left the scene and was going to report the accident to police.
There were no injuries.
