Teens are the likely suspects after vandals defaced the Sooke Community Hall with graffiti on July 2, police say.
The act of vandalism has been blasted by residents and police.
Vandals defaced the front of the community hall and along the parking lot.
“This is a very active investigation. We’re following up leads and there’s potential video,” said Sooke RCMP Cpl. Joe Holmes.
Holmes said graffiti isn’t a problem in Sooke, but police want to “curb the tide” for it to extend past the community hall.
“This is one individual act that we are actively looking at because we don’t want it to become problematic,” Holmes said, adding more than one person is involved.
“It’s likely kids because not too many adults get into tagging unless they’re very artistic.”
In the meantime, a work party will be held July 15 to help clean up the community hall
Volunteers will paint over the graffiti and trim work and do some gardening. Volunteers are asked to bring painting and gardening equipment. The work begins at 9 a.m.
