Police standoff overtakes quiet residential street

Mildred Place in Saanich overrun by police, ambulance crews as officers negotiate standoff

Police and paramedics took over the quiet street called Mildred Place, near Spectrum community school shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday. The News has reports that a standoff took place between police and a resident at the far end of the street. A B.C. Transit bus was parked in the area giving refuge to residents who were evacuated.

Before 9 p.m., the suspect in the standoff was arrested by police and evacuated residents were allowed to return home.
