A new scam has surfaced in Langley, warn RCMP.

On Saturday, Feb. 2, Langley RCMP were called by a woman living in an apartment complex in the 5400 block of 204 Street.

She was approached by the ‘building manager’ who said he needed access to her unit because there was a water leak.

She allowed the man access and when he eventually left, she noticed her purse was missing.

Witnesses reported seeing him leave the building without the purse. However, it was found in the stairwell —minus her cash.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, 5’10” to 6’0” tall, slim build, late 40s, short hair, wearing a light-coloured jacket and dark pants.

All the witnesses commented that this individual had an unnaturally red face, perhaps from acne.

When he spoke with the victim, he said his name was Gray.

Police would encourage residents living in apartment complexes to make themselves familiar with their building manager so only authorized personnel are permitted entry into their homes.
