Police in Victoria are warning the public about an attempted child luring, after an unknown man tried to convince a young boy to get into his vehicle.
It happened in the 1200-block of Fort Street Monday afternoon, near the intersection of Fernwood Road and Pandora Ave. The child told a trusted adult that a man had offered him a ride home and aggressively told him to get into the vehicle. That’s when the boy ran away.
The unknown man is described as Caucasian between the age of 30 and 50 years old, heavy set with short blonde or grey hair and a stubble goatee. He is believed to have a tattoo on his left arm and was wearing a white t-shirt.
Police say he was driving a dirty, dark blue Ford F 150 with a canopy. The vehicle may have had front end damage, with a possible crack on the plastic bumper. It was last seen travelling westbound on Pandora.
“As a reminder to parents and caregivers, it is important to talk to your children about never accepting a ride from a stranger and teaching them who the trusted adults are in their lives,” said Cst. Matt Rutherford of the Victoria Police Department.
