Event attendance and reimbursement clarified for Lumby politicians

The Village of Lumby has adopted a policy that, in order to attend an event as a Lumby representative in an official capacity, the appointment must be made by the mayor, or, there has to be a council resolution made.

The village receives invitations and other requests for the mayor and council to attend events on a regular basis.

Lumby’s official representative is Mayor Kevin Acton, who attends events and other gatherings representing the village, for which he is, as per policy, reimbursed.

“This policy is being put in place so there isn’t any confusion around who attends events and who is being reimbursed for attending any event,” said Acton, who now has the authority to appoint who attends functions on behalf of the village if he’s not available.
