On the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 8, the Barriere Community Quilters made a presentation to the Barriere Royal Canadian Legion of a ‘Remembrance Poppies’ quilt.
“We are honoured today to present this poppy quilt to you in honour of Remembrance Day; and those veterans who have served, are serving, and will serve,” stated quilter Rose Seymour as the quit was given to the Legion.
“It was a big group project,” said quilter Marion Coltman, “Everybody had a turn at doing the binding and quilting.”
One of the local quilting organization’s most recent projects was making and delivering over 100 quilts to those who were burned out from wildfires this year in Slave Lake, Alberta. Currently they are working on quilts for people who are fighting cancer.
Members of the group say they work under a motto of, “Making a difference, one quilt at a time”.
