Port Alice’s municipal office will be changing its hours of operation.
At the Port Alice Village Council meeting on July 13, Port Alice Chief Administrative Officer Ronald Campbell request a change in the municipal office’s hours of operation from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The rationale behind the request, said Campbell, is that all other municipalities, as well as provincial and federal governments have office hours between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
With its current hours, the office loses 30 minutes each morning where they could be contacting other agencies and 30 minutes each evening after they have closed.
“Operationally for us it would be better, though I do understand it may have an impact on the community here,” said Campbell.
“How does staff feel about the change?” asked Mayor Jan Allen.
Campbell stated the office staff are either in support of the change, or it doesn’t affect them either way.
The request was approved.
