The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) has announced that a portion of Broadwater Road will remain closed to the public until Friday, June 5.

The road closed on May 31 after excessive rain caused flooding, which prompted a brief evacuation order for local residents.

In a statement, RDCK said Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure crews are assessing and repairing damaged portions of the road near the 4000 block.

The Hugh Keenleyside Dam will also be closed on Wednesday, June 3 between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. due to maintenance.

While the dam will remain open for emergency traffic and essential travel, there will be no access for campers and boaters to Syringa Provincial Park.
