Potato chip van crash closes Highway 5

There appeared to be no serious injuries after a cube van carrying potato chips and other snacks went off the Highway 5 bridge over the Clearwater River

Members of Clearwater Volunteer Fire Department create a cloud of steam as they spray water onto the remains of a cube van that fell off the Highway 5 bridge over the Clearwater River Tuesday morning. According to an eyewitness, the driver climbed back to the road, apparently without serious injuries. The eyewitness believed the cause to have been the driver falling asleep. As of 11 a.m. Tuesday traffic was being diverted through Clearwater on Old North Thompson Highway, with a possible re-opening time of 2 p.m.
