One of Kimberley’s most familiar faces and busiest volunteers is leaving town next week. Stan Salikin will be moving with his daughter to Campbell River on Vancouver Island.
Kimberley Chamber of Commerce Manager Mike Guarnery says the news of Stan leaving came up quickly but he thinks the community would really like a chance to say thanks for all the years Stan gave of himself.
Anyone who has worked with Stan or has been helped by Stan or has been a friend of Stan’s is invited to the Platzl bandstand at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 11.
“We just want to say thanks,” Guarnery said.
Stan was recently awarded the Governor General’s Caring Canadian medal for all his good with the Food Bank, Rotary, the Chamber, the float committee and so many other organizations in Kimberley.
