Police in Princeton received more calls for service and addressed more violent crimes and property crimes in the third quarter of 2020 than in the same period a year earlier.
The information, from the Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional Detachment of the RCMP, showed the Princeton detachment received 805 calls for service in the third quarter of this year, a seven per cent increase from the 751 calls during the same period in 2019.

Violent crimes increased by 17 per cent, with a total of 49 incidents, up from 42 during the same period in 2019.
The number of assaults increased by 55 per cent, from 20 in 2019 to 31 in 2020.
Uttering threats and domestic violence incidents both decreased slightly, while the number of sex offences was unchanged.
Property crimes rose by five per cent during the third quarter of this year, with 99 incidents, up from 94 during the third quarter of 2019.
Auto thefts rose by 200 per cent, with nine cases reported, up from three in the third quarter of 2019.
Thefts from vehicles increased by 53 per cent, from 17 in the third quarter of 2019 to 26 in the third quarter of this year.
Other thefts decreased by 35 per cent, from 23 in the third quarter of 2019 to 15 in the third quarter of this year.
The number of business, residential and other break and enters all decreased in Princeton. The break and enters in all categories fell from 21 in the third quarter of 2019 to 10 in the third quarter of 2020.
