There has been some forward movement on the cultural front.
The Greater Vernon Advisory Committee voted Thursday to proceed to a spring2014 referendum to borrow funds for a new art gallery and museum.
“We are delighted that the process is moving ahead,” said Andrew Powell, Vernon Public Art Gallery president.
It’s projected both projects could cost $17 million to build but GVAC director Rob Sawatzkty says that is yet to be finalized.
“It could possibly be that the dollar figure approved by the politicians is not the figure the advocacy groups prefer,” he said.
Other outstanding issues include when the vote may be held, which jurisdictions will participate in the function and operating costs if the facilities proceed.
