A 30-year-old Vancouver-area man faces at least six charges after what police are calling “a dynamic takedown” in Crofton on the weekend.
It all started when a late model Lincoln MKS, stolen out of the Parksville area, allegedly failed to stop for a uniformed police officer near downtown Duncan on Saturday, Jan. 12.
Later that day, plain clothes RCMP officers found the vehicle parked at a home on Robert Street. Neighbours stood by to witness North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP’s Street Crime Unit move in for the arrest.
“During the arrest, the accused, a Lower Mainland resident, who is known to police, allegedly attempted to start the vehicle and flee,” said Street Crime Unit boss Cpl. Trevor March in a media release. “He actively resisted arrest but was safely apprehended by attending officers.”
Prolific offender Ryan Abraham remains in police custody and will appear in a Duncan courtroom on Jan. 22. via video conference. He faces charges of theft of vehicle over $5,000, possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, resisting arrest and failing to comply with a probation order.
