Firefighters from Malakwa and Sicamous attended an April 22 fire at a property off of Oxbow Frontage Road. Contractors had been clearing the property when the blaze got out of hand. It consumed a house on the lot which had been slated for demolition, while embers blew to nearby grasslands. Firefighters were able to stop the spread, however, and successfully bring the fire under control.
