Prosperity Ridge owner wants beer and wine store permitted

Platform Properties is asking the city to add beer and wine store to permitted land use

Williams Lake could be getting another beer and wine store.

Platform Properties is asking the City to add beer and wine store as a permitted land use for its Prosperity Ridge Shopping Centre located at 1185 Prosperity Way.

If approved that would bring the number of liquor stores in the City and surrounding neighbourhoods up to eight.

Council will consider the request at Tuesday’s regular council meeting and be asked to give first and second reading.

If council does, then the application will go to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for initial consultation and notice will be issued to surrounding property owners within a 100-metre radius.

There will also be a public hearing scheduled for Aug. 14 in council chambers at 7 p.m.

In a report to council, planner Hasib Nadvi said the present zoning of retail does not permit a beer and wine store.

So far, Platform Properties has not confirmed what will be going into its latest addition to the complex.
