The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) is seeking comments from the public on New Gold’s Blackwater Gold Project Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Guidelines.

From December 21, 2012 to January 20, 2013, the public can review and comment on the Draft EIS Guidelines, a document that identifies the potential environmental effects to be taken into consideration and the information and analysis that needs to be included in the proponent’s Environmental Impact Statement.

The Agency invites the public to comment on which aspects of the environment may be affected by this project and what should be examined during the environmental assessment.

As New Gold moves through the environmental assessment process, we recognize that our growth and success depend on the long-term economic, social and environmental sustainability of each of the communities in which we live and work.

We understand that our activities have a direct effect on our employees, the environment, and local communities.

We are committed to supporting sustainable communities through local hiring and purchasing.

The public will have more opportunities to comment on the project, as part of the federal and provincial environmental assessment process.

To comment on the Draft EIS Guidelines and for more information on the project, please visit the Agency’s website at http://www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca. All comments received will be considered public.
