Several interesting topics are coming up for discussion at the May 14 Chilliwack school board meeting.
The agenda is packed full with action items that have been previously discussed by the board.
Among the items are the first reading of the 2019-2020 budget, a report from the Education Policy Advisory Committee and updates to three different policies.
The board will also be faced with a decision on the creation of an Integrated Arts and Technology school.
They will look again at trustee remuneration and consider giving themselves an increase in pay.
Trustee Barry Neufeld will present his reasons for wanting School District 33 to leave the B.C. School Trustees Association.
Trustee Darrell Furgason will ask the board to consider restoring the public participation portion of the meeting that allowed members of the public to ask questions on any topic relating to education.
They will also look at a policy surrounding acquisition and disposal of real estate.
Presenting to the board at the beginning of the meeting will be Sean Wicker, a principal of alternate education. He will provide an update on Type 3 alternate programs and structures.
