Qualicum Beach Residents’ Association hosts all-candidates meeting May 1

Byelection set for May 15 to fill one vacant council slot

The Qualicum Beach Residents’Association will host an all-candidates meeting via Zoom on May 1 (11 a.m.), as five hopefuls aim for one vacant spot on town council.

Rev. Philip Spencer will moderate the meeting. He will open with introductory remarks and then will ask each candidate to introduce themselves.

There are five candidates vying for the vacant councillor position in the May 15 byelection. They are (in alphabetical order) Brian Denbigh, Sarah Duncan, Peter Kent, Anne Skipsey and Jean Young.

After the preliminary statements, the moderator will ask each candidate a general question. Once this round is concluded, each candidate will be asked to respond to previously submitted questions from the public.

The public is invited to register for this meeting by emailing the president of the QBRA, Doug MacKay-Dunn, at macdunn@uniserve.com. Once registered, the applicant’s name will be recorded, and a link to the meeting provided. Questions for the candidates should be sent in advance to the same email address. The councillor position became vacant when Adam Walker was voted the new MLA for Parksville-Qualicum.
